As artist who believe in the power of art to uplift and empower communities and its visitors  we are always excited to be able to engage with the public. We strive to educate and excite people about the arts through several different outlets. We engage with students of all ages through artist lectures and demonstrations. We offer workshops in various types of art making. With larger public commissions we engage the public directly in the design phase to help us create work that is uniquely suited to that community’s needs. During the fabrication stages we open our studio to the public so they can see the process and when applicable we invite them to help in the creation of the work of art.
Whether we are encouraging budding artist, leading team building class, or creating iconic works of art we are more than just a company that beauties space we are creative professionals who believe in the positive power of the Fine Arts.

Team building with scratch blocks

Our Scratch block workshop is an excellent way to provide a fun and different team building class.
A scratch block workshop is where we bring our mobile foundry to the event and have a day of education and art making. The event engages the participants to work together to use their creativity to create their own individual sculptural aluminum tiles and one large group tile.

The sculptural aluminum tiles will be formed in “scratch blocks.” Each “scratch block” will produce a low relief, a kind of sculpture in which the figures project slightly from the background. The blank scratch blocks are prepared by MFASC before the event and are made of resin bonded sand. The blanks will be scratched into by participants to create a negative pattern. The negative pattern is then filled with aluminum to create an aluminum tile in which the scratched pattern will now become raised from its surface. The resin bonded sand can be safely carved by anyone who can hold a dull carving tool, from children through the elderly

MFASC will describing and show the process to participants by talking them through how to make a scratch block and how the casting process works. MFASC will be on site helping conduct the workshop overseeing the event. The event will culminate with the live casting of molten aluminum.

Finally, after the tiles are quenched and cool to the touch the participants can take their new work of art home with them.
